LinkedIn is a social networking site used by professionals. LinkedIn is a great way to network and build connections and yes LinkedIn is also free to start and have an account. So, exactly how is LinkedIn helpful to you? Well, read on because here’s how…

Networking and having connections in your niche is just as important as having clients and prospects so….

Use LinkedIn to connect with new and existing contacts in your niche. Once you have started a LinkedIn account if you haven’t already., fill out your profile completely and then start connecting. You want to start connecting with existing contacts you know in your niche and the ones you don’t, but that are in your niche. Once you have built those connections start connecting with your contacts and watch your network grow.

Use LinkedIn to join and interact with groups. There are thousands of groups on LinkedIn try joining groups that are relevant to you and your company. Once you join a group you can then participate in group discussions by answering questions. Participating in these groups and their discussions you will emerge yourself as a leader/expert in your industry. This can help drive people to recommend you, this can drive people to your blog if you publish one, and this can help drive people to your website. So, join a group to broadcast your knowledge and expertise as well as extend your network.

Use LinkedIn to create a group for others to join. After being on LinkedIn for awhile try creating your own group it’s another great way to grow your network as well as showcase your knowledge. Don’t create a group just to push your message, but rather create a group relevant to your expertise where members and even competitors can come to hold discussions and find meaningful answers that will be the solution to their question. Also, for your group and others host events like meetups or teleseminars to really start connecting and getting your knowledge out there. I would suggest only creating two groups at the most so they can be easily manageable as you do still have a business to run as well.

Use LinkedIn to promote your blog. If you write a blog be sure to post an announcement with the link about the blog and blog topic to your LinkedIn every time you publish one. Posting the news about your blog will help drive traffic to your blog and get the word out. Posting your blog for your connections to read will also help you establish yourself as an expert in your niche/industry as well. I myself every time I write a new blog and publish it I make a posting to my LinkedIn letting my connections know.
